1989: ALBUM REVIEW >>

Hello everyone! Nightingale here :)
You've probably all heard at least one track off of Taylor Swift's album 1989. With chart-topping singles like "Blank Space," (which reached 1 billion views on YouTube), "Shake it Off," (which did also) "Style," "Bad Blood," and her latest music video, "Wildest Dreams," 1989 has been pretty much one of the most critically acclaimed albums for the past year.

Age Recommendation
I would say 10 or 11, even though there are some songs that could easily be appropriate for 5-year-olds and some tracks that would be best for 12-year-olds. This album has more pop songs than any of her previous ones, and some songs, such as "Wildest Dreams," are much edgier than what the usually innocent Taylor would produce. The album features no swearing and really is the kind of album that can get people of all ages up on their feet dancing. (I went to a Taylor Swift concert recently; you should've seen this group of 60-year-olds dancing to "Shake it Off"!)

Review
Taylor Swift is great. She's cleaner than most artists, and yet sings some really amazing tunes. She does feature a lot of positive and uplifting songs in 1989 compared to the romance-and-breakup-oriented image the media's given her, like "Clean" and "Shake it Off."
There are some songs that I didn't like as much, like "Blank Space." I know that it accurately depicts some relationships, but I just thought the song was from the eyes of a girl who took the breakup too personally, who went to the point of trying to get revenge on her ex-lover in the most crazy and obsessed way. It's a generally good tune and it's clean, but I kind of think it can be a bit stereotypical in the sense that it supports that girls get wildly emotional. HOWEVER, I am also well aware that there is a hidden meaning to this song. Realize that this is exactly what the media thinks her relationships are like? She's merely mocking what the public thinks of her.
All in all, I think 1989 features some good songs but has its downsides as well.
